Letter written by Bacon, Le Roy, 15 Dec. 1885, to George G. Barnum, corresponding secretary of the Buffalo Historical Society, in response to Barnum's request for a specimen of fossilized leaves found during the construction of a church in Mumford, Monroe County, N.Y. Bacon includes much information on the leaves and fossils in general, with a postscript on the salt deposits of the Oatka valley. In 1886, he was invited to read the above communications at a meeting of the Society, and the collection includes his introduction.
